I love a good sandwich but heavens knows I can't seem to make one myself. I pretty much go for the super lazy and boring fillings when I know I need to get more on there. Oh well, I have places like Great Western Sandwich Co to sort me out.
I needed a sandwich. I wanted it fast. And I had £10. I was going down GWR so stopped off here as it's one of the few places along here that I haven't tried (pls forgive me, GWS Co). I had heard good things from Yelpers though so I happily handed over my £10 (and got £5 change, mind you) for a Polo Loco sandwich. The space here would be good for hanging out in, there is actually more seating than I expected so I might eat in next time (although I don't think there are customer loos).
The Polo Loco has: chicken marinated in cayenne, paprika and lime, sour cream, avocado, black beans and fried potatoes. Who puts potatoes on a sandwich? I didn't notice that when I ordered, or when I ate half of it but I've started to accept that carb-on-carb action is pretty standard in Glasgow. The sandwich didn't take long, I'm guessing around 3-4 minutes and was nicely presented for takeaway. It would cost £1 extra if I was going to eat in but I had places to be.
I had the delicious smell of my sandwich taunting me the whole way home and I'm happy to say, after scoffing half of it that it really is delicious. The chicken is generous, the other toppings all work really well too and it's a hearty beast that I haven't been able to finish. Yet. -

On route to another restaurant on Great Western Road (so many good ones), and we spotted Great Western Sandwich Co with a sign out front advertising breakfast burritos. Needless to say, we changed plans and went in to try out the burritos.
Oh my goodness - they did not disappoint! This burrito was action packed: eggs, potatoes, black beans, avocado, salsa, sour cream. It was perfection (and absolutely huge). Plus the whole thing was £5! Such a good deal. I noticed they also have a lot of other breakfast options, veggie friendly and meat oriented. Their lunch/dinner menu looks great too and is separated by meat/veg preference.
And... they allow dogs! Even gave my pups biscuits and water. We were all happy. They have free wifi too. BUT it is cash only so bring your cash, otherwise there is a cashpoint 1 min away (so no biggie if you forget). -

The Great Western Sandwich Co is a cute little sandwich/coffee shop in the west end with a really interesting sandwich menu. Initially, I popped in for some take away coffee a few weeks back and noticed the brunch and Sandwich options which caught my eye. I am yet to try their sandwiches, but I was particularly attracted to their Brunch options which go beyond your typical fry up. So Sunday came and a friend and I decided to try it out for brunch. Their Brunch menu offers a variety of interesting choices, most of which had a Mexican food influence.
I opted for one of the more interesting breakfast choices - beef and pork chilli with avocado, salsa and egg served on a bun. This sounded delicious but unfortunately it was slightly underwhelming as the food was actually quite bland.
The menu is also well priced and inexpensive. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and both of us enjoyed spending a Sunday morning there. I would go again to try some more of their menu as I am curious to try some of those famous sandwiches! -

I always seem to struggle to find a good sandwich shop. I'm not a fan of chain sandwich shops where the food never tastes that fresh or it's overly expensive for what it is.
I saw a sign for this place in the West End, and my growling stomach led me to it.
It's a lot smaller than I imagined it to be however the tables are like benches so it actually sits quite a few people and it's not awkward to sit beside someone you don't know.
There's a good selection of food and the sandwiches and rolls are definitely worth the money. I had 'The Works' which was a full breakfast that once after eating, I thought I was going to have to be rolled out the shop.
The waiter was quite a quirky guy which I liked and he was very friendly and quick to serve. The chef also came down and he too was very nice.
I liked the feel of the place, we weren't hassled all the time by waiters and it's a place where you can get an actual lunch that doesn't involve burgers or cardboard sandwiches.
